Purpose of this Blog

In 2009 I have set a goal for myself to keep my families grocery budget at $50 a week or less. This includes all food, drink, beauty items, health items, and paper products. There are 5 members in my family including my husband and I; and three daughters (14, 8, and 1). My one year old I cloth diaper but I will be buying disposables this year as I head back to work. She drinks whole milk and eats a high fat diet because she has trouble gaining weight. We do use lots of paper towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, and commercial cleaning products like most American families.

  • I do not make my own laundry detergent, do surveys on-line to earn money, sell things on ebay I get couponing, or refer people to on-line services to get something back. These things are admirable ways to save and earn but are more time consuming than I prefer.
  • I do coupon religiously since beginning 10 months ago and it has changed my life.
  • I do stockpile when I get a good deal.
  • I am beginning this year with a stockpile I began accumulating in June of 2008.
  • I have never spent more than $125 a week on groceries.

This blog will be a record of what we eat, what I buy and what I save. Read along throughout the year if you like.
